Tara Theatre is seeking an exceptional artistic director and collaborator to join us and to lead the company into its next chapter.

Tara Theatre is proud to be the oldest global majority led theatre company in the UK. As we approach our 50th year, Tara Theatre remains true to its activist roots delivering work of excellence that creates a more equitable cultural landscape for historically underrepresented audiences and artists.

We are committed to sustaining the vision and upholding the values of Tara Theatre, to a programme of artistic excellence, to creating high quality, inclusive engagement opportunities, to developing and nurturing artists and growing the canon of contemporary South Asian theatre. We have a footprint in London, but seek to deliver a blueprint around diversity for the sector.

The Artistic Director works with Executive Director Helen Jeffreys as Joint Chief Executive. Together they lead the company strategically, creatively and operationally.

The Artistic Director is a creative leader who can forge, articulate and champion a distinctive vision for Tara Theatre. They shape the creative direction of the organisation creating world-class theatre and engagement work both in the theatre in Wandsworth and in collaboration and co-production nationally and internationally. They ensure the programme embodies Tara Theatre’s values and mission whilst supporting the company’s long-term financial stability and growth.
