Role: Assistant Costume Supervisor

Fee: £9,000 total

Dates: Overall dates are end of November 2025 – 15th March 2026*

*Part-time from end of November 2025 – beginning of January 2026, full-time from 5th January – 15th March 2026 (inclusive).

Start Date: End of November 2025 (Part-time). Beginning of January 2026 (Full-time).

Location: West End and touring venues

Reporting to: Costume Supervisor

Personal Attributes: The successful candidate will have experience of working on a West End/No 1 UK Tour musical in a supervisory position (but those with experience of working on smaller scale musicals should also apply). They should have a proactive, ‘can do’ attitude. Applicants should show a willingness to be flexible as well as being highly confident with an ability to take the lead where necessary. A flexible approach to working in a busy costume department with a positive attitude, sense of humour and kindness and empathy. Given the nature of the costumes on the show, candidates will need to have some experience of working on productions with fitted bespoke / constructed costumes. Experience of working on productions with unconventional fabrics, stretchwear and prop costumes is desirable. There is potential for the right candidate to progress onto future productions as a regular member of the SIX costume supervision team, within the 2026 calendar.

 

Job Description:

You will be required to undertake all duties expected of an Assistant Costume Supervisor, which include but are not limited to:

 

  • Working in liaison with the Costume Supervisor and assisting them where necessary to deliver full sets of costumes for the 2026 West End cast change, and other cast change processes as required;

 

  • Assisting during fittings including prior to and during rehearsals, ordering and cutting of fabric and haberdashery, arranging transport of costumes, footwear and departmental equipment between venues, generally supporting the arrangements of the sourcing and buying of all costume elements;

 

  • Supporting the costume supervisor with departmental administration including but not limited to updating the costume bible, both digitally and physically, booking costume stock and fabrics in and out of the SIX costume studio;

 

  • To attend meetings as we may reasonably require, subject to your availability, for the purposes of briefing, casting and discussion, as well as production and internal departmental meetings;

 

  • To submit receipts to the General Management Office using digital account software;

 

  • To provide support and consultation for us and members of the creative team;

 

  • To provide onsite support at The Vaudeville Theatre, the SIX costume studio, touring venues and at any other external fittings or costume workshops as required during the Period of Engagement;

 

  • Any other customary service required based on industry standards and norms for an Assistant Costume Supervisor;
