Role Summary
heatr Colwyn is a vibrant 333 seat venue facilitating a busy programme of both film shows and live productions and we are now recruiting for a Duty Officer to join our dedicated team.
You will support the Theatre Manager in the smooth operation of the front of house service and ensuring patron’s safety.
We require a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and people management skills and proven literacy and numeracy skills. The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in front of house operations and have a thorough knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and licensing laws.
Previous cash handling experience and understanding of stock control systems are essential.
The ability to communicate in English is essential for this post and the ability to talk with service users in the medium of Welsh is essential.
You will work on an annualised hours contract, working an average of 37 hours a week arranged on a shift rota basis and includes weekend, evening and bank holiday working.

Job Specification
Duties and Responsibilities – Job Specific
1. To act as Duty Manager for Cinema screenings & live shows for a maximum of 333 patrons ensuring their safety and smooth operation of events.
2. To carry out physical checks of all Front of House exits prior to each performance ensuring that all routes and doors are free from obstruction.
3. To supervise Confectionery Sales Assistants and Volunteer Stewards in the Front of House operation whilst on shift. The Post Holder will also be required to work behind the kiosk in busy periods to support the confectionary assistants as well as working behind the kiosk at non-performance times
4. As Duty Manager to conduct briefings with Volunteer Stewards and Confectionery Sales staff regarding Front of House performance arrangements.
5. To control the issue and reconciliation of floats for Kiosk.
6. In conjunction with the Manager to order and rotate stock for the kiosk.
7. To work with the external stock taker with regards to counting the stock and supplying all supporting documentation.
8. To maintain adequate change floats when necessary in conjunction with the Sales Supervisor.

To take responsibility for completing the daily cash reconciliation for the kiosk.
10. To assist in whatever capacity required to ensure the successful running of performances and events including occasional cleaning duties.
11. To assist the Marketing Department with the updating of the digital Marketing screens and posters for the Front of House areas at Theatr Colwyn.
12. To create & distribute posters and leaflets for Theatr Colwyn and a small number of external sites.
13. As and when required to assist the box office providing a sales service using the box office ticketing system.
14. To deal with any matter arising affecting the Front of House area of the operation i.e. queries from patrons, problems in the auditorium, and complaints from audience.
15. To ensure the safety of the section’s property during the public occupation of its facilities.
16. Responsible for the preparation of the Front of House areas for performances and events.
17. To be able to lift heavy boxes e.g. programmes / flyers / crates of bottles and furniture on a regular basis and on occasion theatre equipment
18. To ensure that statutory obligations relating to the safety and welfare of the general public are met.
19. As part of the security team, to be a key holder and open and secure buildings when required.
20. The post holder will liaise with the Front of House Services Manager at Venue Cymru for support relating to catering, licencing and front of house policy and procedures issues.
21. A minimum amount of lone working will be involved including, evening and weekend shifts.
