The Royal Opera House continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. We aim to enrich people`s lives through opera and ballet.
Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading role in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering excellence for every performance, rehearsal, and event. We are seeking to appoint a Head of Stage who will ultimately be responsible for the management and delivery of all ROH Stage Operations for our Covent Garden stages and for all outside locations on tour, co-productions, and hires.
This role is multi-faceted and will require oversight of the Stage teams, the safe construction and presentation of productions, and the safe and compliant running of all Stage Operational facilities. The post holder will also engage in the planning and pre-production process and will be responsible for ongoing development of existing resources, research and budget analysis of new technologies, staff recruitment and development, and robust safety and financial leadership.
Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in theatre technical management and the ability to lead by example, fostering collaboration and trust across the team. This is a unique and rare opportunity to be able to shape the future of the ROH Stage function – ensuring that it is sector leading not only in terms of technical theatre but also inclusivity and accessibility. This role also requires comprehensive technical skills, with a thorough understanding of stage technologies, and an up to date working knowledge of equipment and systems across multiple disciplines.
