Resident Director

Curve Theatre
Up to £20k per annum
Job Specification
We are recruiting for a Resident Director to join our Producing, Programming and Touring team.
Almost one million people a year engage with Curve through performances and projects at our home in Leicester, across the UK and internationally. Under the leadership of Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, Curve has developed a reputation for producing, programming and touring a bold and diverse programme of musicals, plays, new work, dance and opera. All of this is presented alongside a dynamic mix of community engagement, artist development and learning programmes, which firmly places audiences, artists and communities at the heart of everything we do. This is an exciting opportunity to join Curve, one of UK’s leading producing theatres, located in the heart of Leicester’s Cultural Quarter.
If you are an emerging theatre director interested in working on large scale productions, in a fast moving and ambitious building based theatre, with an appetite to develop your skills, this role is for you. Experience of leading rehearsals, running workshops, dramaturgical skills, an interest in musical theatre, new work, developing new audiences for the future and embracing diversity in all its forms.
There is potential for the Resident Director to direct our annual De Montfort University co-production and Curve Young Company & Community productions. There may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to work on our touring Productions. Working alongside our New Work Associate, artist development and learning teams, the Resident Director will run workshops, work with our celebrated Curve Young Company, and further connect our work to our diverse communities.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will have a flexible approach to working, including the ability to work unsociable hours.
LTT are committed to equal opportunities and we are working to broaden the diversity of our workforce to be more representative of our city and region. We welcome applications from all sectors of the community. We would particularly welcome applications from suitably skilled and experienced people from an ethnic minority background, and, as a Disability Confident Committed employer, those with a disability. Additionally, we would encourage applications from candidates from non-traditional theatre backgrounds.
Please note – once appointed, the role will not commence until 7 May 2019.
