Up to £60k dependent on experience
Job Specification
HQ Theatres & Hospitality seeks to appoint a dynamic and energetic Theatre Director to run this very successful theatre located in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The Beck Theatre offers an excellent programme of live entertainment across a spectrum encompassing comedy, dance, drama, music shows, concerts, children’s and family shows, pantomime, and film. The venue is also frequently and very successfully used as a community performance venue, reflecting the interests of its diverse local population.
Stimulated by the opening (expected in 2019) of a Crossrail station at Hayes, current and future inward investment into the Borough of Hillingdon will bring into the Beck Theatre’s catchment significant numbers of new homes, plus retail and leisure facilities, attractive new public realm projects, and substantially increased employment in extensive new office space. These important changes will provide fresh opportunities for the next phase of the Beck Theatre’s development as a professional Presenting Theatre, with a vibrant programme combining professional shows with community events.
The Theatre Director is directly responsible for ensuring the continuing artistic, commercial, and community success of the Beck Theatre through excellent, innovative programming; community engagement and creative learning; audience growth; first-class customer service; and the success and popularity of a range of targeted, in-house managed hospitality activities which form a key part of HQT&H’s distinctive approach. Through dynamic leadership of the theatre team, the Theatre Director will have full P&L responsibility for all aspects of the Beck Theatre’s operation, applying entrepreneurial expertise to increase its attractiveness to audiences and customers, and to further grow the business.
Our ideal applicant will be ambitious, a strong leader, commercially astute, and able to offer a career history culminating in successful management in a live entertainment setting - underpinned with programming expertise, ideally combined with successful experience in general venue management and /or marketing. We shall be very interested to hear candidates’ ideas about the new directions the programme might successfully take.
This position offers a rare and truly excellent opportunity for enhancing career success and professional profile in commercial theatre and venue management. The remuneration package includes a competitive salary up to £60k and bonus incentives, private healthcare, pension provision and relocation assistance.
