Job Specification
The Mill at Sonning Theatre is looking for a full-time Technician to join our backstage team. Previous theatre sound and lighting experience is essential. We are a commercial dinner theatre near Reading and produce 6 in-house shows per year with runs of 6 to 8 weeks per production including a Christmas musical. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the technical aspects of the theatre’s day to day operation both FOH and backstage. They will operate the lighting and sound for shows on a rota basis with the Venue Tech (who they will manage), they will provide sound, lighting and electrical requirements for our productions in liaison with members of the creative and production teams and other tasks as required as part of the role. They will also liaise with and provide technical support for visiting bands and Acts which will include lighting operation for their shows and may include sound set up and live mixing. The hours are 46 hours per week over 11 sessions – 48 hours on production weeks. We will interview as soon as possible and for someone to start as soon as they can. There will be an initial probationary period of 3 months after which, if satisfactory, a longer term contract would be available. 
Wage - £24,800 per annum +  fit up payments + compulsory overtime payments for working concerts on Sunday evenings, making earnings in the region of £28, 000  gross.
