Performances Birmingham Ltd is the charitable trust that manages Town Hall Symphony Hall (THSH) as part of two iconic venues at the heart of Birmingham. Town Hall Symphony Hall’s mission is to inspire a love of live music, through performance, participation and learning. Each year, we welcome over half a million people to around 800 concerts and events.
From Generation Ladywood, a suite of activities that are offered to young people and their families in an area where 53% of children live in poverty to Community Spirit, a concert which brings together some of the best choirs and homegrown talent in the West Midlands for an evening of incredible choral music – Town Hall Symphony Hall plays a central role in this culturally vibrant city.
The charity is now seeking a Media & Communications Officer to secure media coverage across numerous platforms – including, but not limited to broadcast, digital and print and to seek PR opportunities with partners across the West Midlands.
The successful candidate will be a naturally engaging communicator who enjoys keeping abreast with developments and activity across the city and within the organisation to increase brand presence and to create compelling stories with an astute approach, constantly alert to and able to respond and react accordingly.
Candidates who apply will need to possess a proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of audiences, and have an awareness of trends in press and PR and have some experience of responding to them, along with the ability to proofread, edit content, and the ability to create and develop ideas for editorial, implementing communication plans, sending key messages and understanding the appropriate channels for the target audiences.

As THSH is a live music and entertainment venue we require flexibility in terms of working outside of 9-5 office hours, so working some evenings and occasional weekends will be necessary.
