Northern Ballet are looking to appoint a new Artistic Director as they move into an exciting period of activity including planning a new 5-year vision. 
An internationally renowned and commercially thriving company, Northern Ballet creates work that is presented on a wide range of live and digital platforms and boasts a world-class Academy and outreach programme. 
As one of the major UK ballet companies and funded by Arts Council England, the Company has a reputation for producing high-calibre narrative ballet works and making bold and innovative repertoire choices. Core to our mission is to bring ballet to as many people in as many places as possible, which is why we remain the widest touring ballet company in the UK. 
The Artistic Director sets the artistic vision for Northern Ballet and provides inspirational leadership for its many and varied activities. They work with the Chief Executive and Heads of Department in the strategic planning for the organisation and act as an advocate for the Company promoting its vision, mission, ethos and values in all matters. The Artistic Director and Chief Executive are joint leaders of the Company and both report to the Chair and Board. 
Our ideal candidate will be a recognised and respected member of the dance world with an established reputation for quality productions as Director, Choreographer, Dancer or Producer in ballet. The new Artistic Director will have previous experience of commissioning, creating, producing and/or curating imaginative programmes and extensive knowledge of current ballet and dance practices in the UK and internationally with a wide network of national and international contacts. The ability to set and drive a dynamic, ambitious and evolving artistic vision for Northern Ballet, leading and motivating the Company to deliver it, together with a successful track record of nurturing talent and developing potential in artists, are essential for this position.
