Job Specification
The Wardrobe Assistant is a key role in the wardrobe department; working to support the team in the making, sourcing and maintenance of costumes. 
 
Main duties and responsibilities 
 
o Assisting on making and sourcing of costume and accessories 
o Maintaining and repairing costumes 
o Assistant in carrying out costume measurement and fittings wherever rehearsals are located 
o Maintenance of costume during performance runs and as required; including laundry calls 
o Maintenance of wardrobe department equipment and stock 
o Contribution of proposals for the improvement of the wardrobe department and its processes 
o To maintain standards of quality in all areas of work 
o To ensure excellent communication between departments and teams 
o To actively contribute to the running of the wardrobe department 
 
 
Person specification 
You must have 
If you do not demonstrate that you meet all these criteria you may not be shortlisted. 
• Experience in costume maintenance 
• Experience in dressing 
• Positive, proactive, self motivated and flexible approach 
• Genuine interest in the Arts 
• Ability to manage time effectively 
• Ability to work alone or as part of a team 
• Ability to cope with physically demanding work 
• Ability to carry out work under pressure and maintain good humour and diplomacy

If we need to choose between candidates who meet the essential criteria, we may take these factors into account. 
• Experience of costume construction 
• Experience of working in a producing theatre or similar environment 
• First Aid Certificate 
• Full Clean Driving License 
 
 
 
  
Terms & Conditions 
Wardrobe Assistant 
Period of work 
This is a permanent contract, subject to successful completion of a probationary period of three months. 
Pay 
£19,266 per year (assistant 3); pro-rata if part-time. 
Hours 
39 hours per week 
Some evening and weekend work will be required. 
We don’t encourage or expect over time, however, in the event that over time is worked, this may be taken as time off in lieu to be agreed in advance with your line manager. 
Holidays 
20 days per year plus public holidays/25 days, plus bank holidays 
The holiday year runs from 1 September to 31 August each year. 
Notice period 
The notice period will be 12 weeks
