Job Specification
We are looking for a Deputy Director of Learning (Programmes) to join the Learning team. 
The Deputy Director of Learning (Programmes) is a new senior role leading the strategic and creative oversight of the National Theatre’s work in education and with young people outside of school. You will champion the involvement of schools, the wider education sector and young people across all aspects of the NT’s work including programming and advocacy. 
The post will have specific responsibility for digital learning strategy, building on the NT Collection and digital innovation over the past two years to innovate, build reach and engagement and widen the NT’s educational brand, working closely with the Digital Media team. 
The Deputy Director (Programmes) leads education-focused teams and the Young People’s team, overseeing a high-quality offer responding to need, effective targeting of activity and use of resources, and research and evaluation of learning programmes. You will ensure that the NT’s programmes work to address inequality and under-representation in theatre education, including through consultation and partnership, programming, and recruitment of artists, schools, partners and teams. 
You will develop the National’s network of external partnerships, seeking opportunities to widen the reach and impact of our work. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Learning & National Partnerships and the Deputy Director of Learning (Operations), you will play a key role in shaping the National Theatre’s strategies for Learning. 
The successful candidate will have the following: 
• A proven ability to develop long-term strategic plans, with skills to lead, collaborate and implement change 
• The ability to manage senior and experienced staff effectively 
• Significant experience of developing innovative digital programmes or digitally-delivered activity in an education context 
• Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of schools and education policy and sector 
• A commitment to Equality, Inclusion and Diversity and to developing a more representative theatre sector
