The Sunderland Empire Theatre is the largest theatre between Leeds and Edinburgh and is referred to as the West End of the North East; we're a dynamic, busy venue welcoming thousands of audience members through our door each year housing a mix of Hit West End Musicals, UK Tours, Comedians, One Night shows and Local Performances. We are part of the Ambassador Theatre Group, an extraordinary success story in the live entertainment industry. Founded in 1992 in the UK, we’ve grown into the world’s number one live-theatre company today. We cover every discipline in the theatre industry, from operating venues to ticketing platforms and producing shows. You will be joining the Sunderland Empire at an exciting time in its development as we strengthen our technical team and develop our venue and its impact over the coming years. As Deputy Chief Electrician you will play a key role in ensuring our standards of presentation, both on stage and in the rest of the building, are exemplary. 
 
You will be expected to have extensive management experience to lead, develop and grow a technical team with many years of experience. You will be expected to work closely with colleagues in Staging, building maintenance and FOH operations. 
 
This position reports to the Chief LX and Technical Manager, and to the Theatre Manager and Theatre Director where appropriate. You’ll be responsible helping manage the LX Department’s casual team. 
 
The role is offered on an annualised hours (buy-out) basis, meaning that working hours may vary throughout the year and payment for any premium hours, such as get outs, are all included in the annual salary.
