We’re looking for someone who has a deep respect and creative interest in making work for children and young people, who has the skills to attract and nurture artists of a high calibre to make their best work for the best audiences, and who wants to lead the UK’s largest children’s theatre in to the future with heart, generosity and ambition.
The Artistic Director is a joint CEO role with the Co-Executive Directors (Bailey Lock and Helen Tovey), they will work in a collaborative partnership to deliver a shared artistic vision and business strategy, ensuring the success of the Unicorn for generations of children to come.
We are open to the skillset of the new Artistic Director being from a range of experiences within theatre-making, including but not limited to directing, writing, designing, acting and dramaturgy, and encourage applications from individuals from a diverse range of lived experiences. They do not have to have previously run a company or theatre or made work with children and young people. However, the new Artistic Director should demonstrate how their skills and experience can be transferred to this role, and demonstrate their commitment to transforming young lives through theatre.
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)
