Final set of speakers announced for Theatre & Touring Symposium 2022


The final set of speakers for the theatre industry’s big annual conference, the Theatre & Touring Symposium, have been announced today, taking the current total of speakers and facilitators to nearly 50. The event, taking place on Monday 27 June 2022 at both at The Brewery, London and online, is sponsored by Ecclesiastical, Spektrix, Tysers, Theatre Tokens and Yesplan, and is the first time the event has been held in three years.

The Theatre & Touring Symposium, presented by Society of London Theatre (SOLT) and UK Theatre, is also announcing today Trafalgar Theatres as the sponsor of the networking drinks, held immediately after the conference in the Barbican Conservatory.

Joining the previously announced speakers on the session on sustainable producing and touring are Carolyn ML Forsyth (Executive Director & (joint) CEO, Talawa), who will be discussing the journey she and her company have taken to begin to embed the principles of the Theatre Green Book into their working practices, alongside Jennifer Taillefer (Freelance Production Manager) and Will Reynolds (Artistic Director, Metta Theatre).

Jon Linstrum (Director, Touring (interim), Arts Council England) joins the panel discussing the cost of producing and touring, and Mark Dakin (Director of Technical Production, Royal Opera House) and Rathi Kumar (Operations Director, Young Vic) will be highlighting the opportunities provided by the pandemic to make our workplaces more inclusive, in a session facilitated by Sandeep Mahal (Director of Sector Change, People Make It Work).

Identifying ways to shift customer behaviour from hesitation to motivation will be Rob Macpherson (Managing Director, Impakt), in a session facilitated by Dawn Farrow (Commercial Director, Live Entertainment).

Jeroen Snoek (Sales Director, Yesplan) will be discussing some of Yesplan’s business intelligence functionality, which can help producers and venues automate deal memo information gathering and dissemination, and Tassa Sandhu (Head of Retail Partnerships, Tillo) will be joining the session outlining the benefits of taking innovative approaches to promoting theatre in new retail environments.
