The internships will be paid positions for 1 week leading up to the awards ceremony on Sunday 10 April.

We will be looking for people who demonstrate a good understanding of the questions, and who can give examples that illustrate a thorough and conscientious approach to work.

The Olivier Awards Internship Scheme aims to give people from all backgrounds and areas of the UK a chance to gain valuable experience as part of the team delivering theatre’s most prestigious night. This year’s trailer can be viewed here.

Our recruitment process will be inclusive and we are actively seeking applications from people who are presently under-represented in the theatre and events sector.

If you have any questions about the Internship Scheme, or have additional needs and require help understanding or completing this form, please email us at production@olivierawards.com

What are the Olivier Awards?

The Olivier Awards celebrate the world-class status of London’s theatre. This year the Awards will be held on Sunday 10 April at the Royal Albert Hall and broadcast on ITV.

On the day, there is a red carpet arrival for the Nominees, VIPs and guests to enter the Royal Albert Hall. This year it will be a ‘Green Carpet’ as we try to be as sustainable as possible throughout this year’s preparations.

Once inside the venue, Jason Manford will guide the audience thought the ceremony. Awards are presented to the winners of each awards category (for example Best New Musical, Best New Play and Best Actor and Actress). There are also performances from nominated theatre shows and leading performers from London’s West-End.

What is an internship?

An internship is a professional learning experience incorporating practical work relating to a career. It is an opportunity to observe and assist a professional in a particular job and learn new skills.

  • Social Media and Marketing
Job descriptions here.

Can I apply for more than one placement?

Yes, as long as you show relevant interest in that area of work, your applications will be considered. All placements happen at the same time, so if you are successful, you will only be able to undertake one placement.

You can apply for these positions if you:

  • are 18 years of age or older on Sunday 3 April 2022
  • are a UK resident and have the right to work in the UK

Is the internship paid?

Yes, each of the 4 placements is a paid job. You will be paid £120 per day.

How will I be paid?

You will be paid by invoice straight into your bank account. If you are successful and have not invoiced for earnings before, you will be guided though the process.

How long do the internships last?

Those selected will be working during the week before the awards, and on the night of the ceremony. The internships in the Production, Stage Management and Lighting departments are for 7 days from Monday 4 April until the evening of Sunday 10 April. The Social Media and Marketing intern placement if from Tuesday 5 April until the evening of Monday 11 April.

What are the working hours?

Due to the nature of the work, you may be required to work evenings in the run up to the awards. You will be expected to work long hours during the weekend of the awards ceremony. Everyone involved works together to make the event happen.

Where are the internships based?

All internships are based in London.

What if I am not from London?

Hotel accommodation will be provided free of charge to you in a London hotel for the duration of the placement. You will also be provided with a London travel card for the week.

Is there an upper age limit for applications?

No, but these are entry level positions for an intern to spend time working on relevant projects, learning about the field, and making industry connections.

Do I need any previous experience?

Having previous experience in the theatre and events industry is not essential. We only ask that you have a keen interest in developing a career in the sector and communicate this to us in your application.
