Summary

The purpose of the job will be to help prepare, implement and operate performance related lighting, sound and AV equipment for Opera North productions both in Leeds and on tour. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively as part of the team, making sure that all activities are carried out to the highest standards of safety.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Get in lighting, sound and AV equipment.
  • Rig and check Lighting, sound and AV equipment.
  • Focus, plot and rehearse lighting states.
  • Set up, plot and rehearse stage electrics effects and follow spots.
  • Operate lighting, sound and AV equipment during performances.
  • De-rig Lighting, sound and AV equipment.
  • Get out lighting, sound and AV equipment.
  • Maintenance and PAT testing of electrical equipment.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.
  • Compliance with relevant legislation and statutory codes of practice.

Person Specification:

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Health & Safety and/or manual handling training.

 

Experience / skills required:

 

  • Proven track record of lighting work within the theatre industry
  • Good knowledge of ETC EOS family (Apex 5), Protools and media servers.
  • Some experience and knowledge of knotting and rigging
  • Experience and knowledge of lighting sound and AV equipment and hardware
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and manual handling
  • Experience of PAT Testing
  • Experience of working at height
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and commitment

 

Functional/ leadership competencies:

 

  • Demonstration of physical fitness to meet the demands of the job
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays as required within the allocated weekly working time, and to travel to other sites or venues

Terms & Conditions:

 

Contract type: Fixed Term, Full Time (2 months)

 

Salary: £650 per week

 

Hours of work: An average of 44 hours per week, across the contracted period

 

Place of work: you will be based at Howard Opera Centre, Leeds (you’ll be expected to travel to other venues as part of the role also).
