Job Description

  • Cover the Assistant Stage Manager – pre-set and show plot. This may involve some onstage appearances in correct period costume.
  • Cover the Sound No. 2 pre-set and show plot (a backstage microphone plot) – specific training will be given for this role as required.
  • Reasonably support all other departments of the production.
  • Be part of the Stage Management team during rehearsals for the main and understudy cast, rotating rehearsals with other SM as required.
  • Maintain props with rest of Stage Management team.
  • To cover for the Deputy Stage Manager in the rehearsal room as necessary.
  • To cover the Deputy Stage Manager during holidays and sickness.
  • To be ‘on the book’ and call the production on a regular basis.
  • To undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Company Stage Manager.

This role will be part of the Stage Management team of four (Company Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager, and two Technical Assistant Stage Managers (Book Cover))

The role will cover both the Sound No. 2 track and the book as needed.

Contract: UK Theatre/Equity Agreement (Tier B venue).

Duration: An initial 6-month fixed-term contract from 1st October 2026 (subject to the Producer’s right to give not less than two weeks’ notice of closure of the Production).

Salary: £675 per week. Inclusive of incidental and Sunday performance payments.

Schedule: 8 performances per week. Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30pm, Thursday and Saturday at 2:30pm and Sunday at 3pm. Please note that around during Easter, Christmas, and other school holiday periods the schedule may be adjusted. Monday is the designated day off.

Annual leave: 28 days annually including public holidays, pro-rata for the duration of the engagement.

Probation: 12 weeks.
