Advocacy Lead

Summary

Scotland’s membership organisation and sector support body for the performing arts is seeking to recruit a passionate, skilled and dedicated Advocacy Lead. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, they will develop and implement a comprehensive advocacy plan to raise the profile of Scottish theatre, dance, and opera, ensure the needs of the sector are effectively communicated to decision-makers, and drive the progression of the plan to have a demonstrable and positive impact on the sector’s visibility, value, and resources.

This is a time of immense challenge, change, renewal, and opportunity. Working with FST, you’ll play a vital role in the future of this essential part of the cultural sector, as we support and champion the performing arts. Following a restructure earlier in 2024, five newly created roles are now open for applications:

Advocacy Lead – 0.8 FTE (£34,300 per annum, pro-rata £27,440)
Change Programmes Lead – 0.8 FTE (£34,300 per annum, pro-rata £27,440)
Digital Communications Co-ordinator – full time (£29,843)
Membership and Networks Lead – 0.8 FTE (£34,300 per annum, pro-rata £27,440)
Operations and Finance Co-ordinator – full time (£31,229)

The Advocacy Lead will have a background in one or more of the following: public affairs, advocacy, public relations, communications, or Government affairs.

They will work across five key areas:

• Research and policy development
• Stakeholder and member engagement
• Advocacy planning and activity
• Strategy development and implementation
• External communications

Interviews will be held between Monday 19 August and Friday 30 August 2024

Location: All Scotland.  Hybrid working is supported, with many of our team working from home for some of their working week. Given the nature of this particular role, the postholder will be expected to travel across Scotland and the wider UK as required.
