THE ROLE

We are looking for a Company/Stage Manager to work with us on Abigail’s Party.

Key Responsibilities

  • With the Northern Stage Company Manager, during performances at Northern Stage and while on tour, be responsible for company welfare and with other members of the Stage Management team, maintain regular and effective communication with the Producer and Director, bringing to them in a timely manner, anything concerning the production, creatives or performing company which may need their attention.
  • Alongside the Northern Stage CM oversee the running of an efficient and safe rehearsal room, ensuring rehearsals run smoothly and that company and creatives are suitably supported
  • With the Northern Stage CM during performances at Northern Stage and while on tour, oversee and issue all performer and stage management calls in a timely manner and in accordance with the relevant UK Theatre/Equity agreement
  • Keeping timesheets for yourself, other members of the Stage Management team, and the Performers, ensuring overtime is managed and controlled to set parameters
  • Liaising with the Communications Department to organise performer’s publicity and press calls
  • Liaising with the Costume Supervisor to organise performer’s wardrobe calls and fittings
  • Liaising with the Director, stage personnel and other technical departments as necessary
  • With the Northern Stage CM, and the Production’s DSM and ASM, compiling setting lists for props, furniture and set dressing
  • With the DSM, ensure rehearsal and show reports are distributed to all concerned parties
  • Where necessary, to participate and assist in Northern Stage’s projects / workshops
  • To be aware of Health and Safety issues surrounding Stage Management and performers and ensure all work complies with Northern Stage’s Health and Safety Policies and current legislation.
  • Produce rehearsal and performer risk assessments in conjunction with the Production Manager and Company Manager
  • Attend all rehearsals, technical and dress rehearsals and performances
  • Run technical rehearsals if necessary at Northern Stage, and while on tour
  • Ensure all props and furniture are packed for safe transit at the end of performances at each venue
  • With the Production Manager, ensure the production is ready for technical rehearsals and performances at each tour venue
  • Be the first point of contact for company members
  • Actively support and promote Northern Stage’s green initiatives and their commitment to achieve the Green Book for Productions Intermediate Standard.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be requested by Northern Stage and as customarily expected of a Company/Stage Manager

Person Specification, Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 3 years professional experience, preferably working on mid to large scale productions
  • Experience as a Company Stage and Stage Manager
  • Experience and a good working knowledge of opening new theatrical productions and touring
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer literate
