Board Members and Chair of the Board

Summary

NWT is a registered charity and we are currently looking for two Board Members (trustees) and a Chair of the Board. We want individuals who can bring insights from a broad range of experience and backgrounds to enhance the skills of current directors.

More Details

NWT is a much-loved charity with a mission to create, develop and produce vital and dynamic theatre that achieves the highest quality, maximum diversity and greatest accessibility. NWT produces and presents live performance and delivers creative engagement for the communities of Ipswich, Suffolk and the wider region. As a not-for-profit organisation we rely on a blend of income streams; core funding from the Arts Council and Ipswich Borough Council as well as donations, individual giving and corporate support, all of which are invaluable.

Our board needs to be representative of the community we serve. We’d love applications from people of all backgrounds, especially from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds, those who identify as D/deaf and disabled people, neurodivergent people, members of the LGBTQIA+ community and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

We are up for exploring support and development needs and will make reasonable adjustments to enable applicants to participate in the selection process, and for the successful applicant to carry out their role.

You don’t need to have been a Board Member/ Trustee before, if you are interested in joining the NWT Board of Directors we would love to hear about you and your skills and experiences, wherever you have gained them.

  • Experience of leadership in the cultural sector
  • Experience of fundraising and income generation

We are also particularly interested in hearing from individuals with a home base, or connection to in Ipswich, Suffolk or East Anglia, but we are open to applications from outside this area.

You may have skills, abilities, and experience we haven’t mentioned. We would be interested to hear about them.

Time commitment:

  • Four Board meetings each year, held in Ipswich from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
  • Two ‘Away Days’ per year, usually on a Saturday 10am-4pm.
  • You will be required to join at least one sub-committee with four meetings per year
