Chief Executive & Creative Director

Summary

Mwldan is seeking an ambitious and collaborative Chief Executive & Creative Director to lead one of Wales’ most distinctive arts centres through its next chapter of artistic, organisational and civic development.

More Details

Mwldan is a nationally respected multi-artform venue and creative organisation based in Cardigan, west Wales. For more than 40 years, it has combined ambitious artistic programming with deep community connection, presenting live performance, cinema, participatory activity and creative collaboration from its multi-space arts centre in the heart of the town.

We are now seeking an exceptional Chief Executive & Creative Director to lead the organisation through its next phase of development.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of Mwldan’s artistic, strategic and operational leadership – balancing creative ambition with financial resilience, organisational sustainability and community relevance.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a distinctive cultural organisation with a strong civic role, loyal audiences and an established national profile. The role requires an experienced and emotionally intelligent leader with a strong track record in arts, cultural or venue leadership, alongside the ability to inspire staff, artists, audiences, partners and funders alike.

Mwldan operates across three auditoria alongside studio, rehearsal and community spaces, presenting a year-round programme spanning theatre, music, dance, comedy and cinema. The organisation also has a substantial history of producing and touring work nationally and internationally.

Knowledge of Welsh culture and language is important. Fluency in Welsh is desirable but not essential.
