The Citizens Theatre is one of Scotland’s flagship producing theatres, rooted in our local Gorbals community with an international outlook.
We make bold productions of new plays and reinvent classics that speak to contemporary Scotland. Sets, costumes and props are all created in-house, and bring together a community of artists and freelancers who, along with our staff team, deliver inspiring experiences in Glasgow and beyond.
The Director of Producing is a senior leader within Citizens Theatre, responsible for the strategic planning and operational delivery of the professional artistic programme, supporting the Artistic Director in the realisation of the theatre’s artistic vision.
Working in close partnership with the Artistic Director, the Director of Producing ensures that artistic ambitions are realised in ways that are operationally robust, financially sustainable, and delivered to the highest possible standard. The role leads the artistic planning of the organisation and oversees production delivery through the Head of Production, ensuring that conditions are in place for artists and creatives to do their best work.
As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Producing contributes to the overall strategic leadership of the organisation and regularly attends Board meetings, providing insight and reporting on programme, partnerships and delivery. The role plays a key part in delivering the theatre’s artistic ambitions, building partnerships and ensuring the long-term sustainability and reach of the Citizens Theatre’s work locally, nationally and internationally.
