ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Bridge Theatre Lighting Department is currently looking for an enthusiastic and talented Lighting Supervisor to join the in-house lighting team..
We would welcome CVs from those who have at least 2 years’ experience working as part of a lighting team on professional live performances of a mid – large scale. As a Lighting Supervisor at The Bridge Theatre you will take responsibility for assisting the Heads of Department and being part of supervising and supporting the show contracted lighting team.
You will be a key member of the lighting team and Bridge Theatre productions, assisting the Heads of Lighting in reacting to any issues that may be raised from the current production but also assisting with the preparation for upcoming productions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting show contracted staff as required, i.e. moving light swaps, maintenance, stock check of consumables etc.
- Providing cover for show contracted staff, i.e. LX Operator, Duty Tech, Stage LX, Follow Spot Operator etc.
- To repair and maintain LX fixtures and smoke machines.
- To support the Heads of Lighting with the upkeep, maintenance and operational use of all lighting equipment in the venue.
- Be proactive with communicating and fixing issues that arise with LX equipment etc.
- To be an active and engaged member of the Bridge Technical Team.
- To support and assist other departments and teams at the Bridge as required to ensure the smooth operational running of the venue.
- To work closely with the Heads of Lighting in realising designs for productions and other projects.
- Basic lighting programming for events and operation of lighting for events where scheduled.
- To supervise and be a key point of communication for casual lighting staff during production changeovers.
- To supervise show staff as required by the Heads of Lighting.
- Undertaking the prep, rigging and focusing of lighting fixtures during production changeovers alongside casual lighting staff.
- Work alongside the Heads of Lighting to plan and execute fit ups and get outs safely and efficiently.
- Assist with other duties as required by the Heads of Lighting.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years’ experience working as part of a lighting team on professional live performances of a mid – large scale.
- Proven experience and confidence in using ETC family consoles.
- Experience of PAT Testing and Asset Management systems.
- Experience of working in a Producing house theatre.
- Prior experience of being a Production Electrician/LX 1 for large scale productions in a producing house venue
- Ability to read and interpret lighting plans and paperwork.
- Ability to utilise AutoCAD and Vectorworks to adapt and amend lighting plans.
- Good working knowledge of theatrical lighting fixtures.
- Leadership skills and the ability to manage large teams of casual lighting staff in a busy theatre environment.
- Highly organised, approachable, and friendly, with a firm understanding and enthusiasm for the production process.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Confidence working and leading teams at height.
- Competence using a wide range of access equipment to rig and focus / maintain lighting fixtures.
- The ability to work well under pressure in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to use all Microsoft Office / Google applications to provide essential documentation such as focus notes, schedules, followspot plots etc.
- Safe working practice. Good working knowledge of Working at Height Regulations, LOLER, PUWER, CDM and general safe working practice in a theatrical environment.
- Ability to work independently and pro- actively to improve venue operations and ensure efficiency across the lighting department.

Desirable Skills
- Moving light maintenance skills
- Health and Safety Qualification and experience writing risk assessments
- IPAF License 1a
- Knowledge of/prior experience with Building Facilities.
- Prior experience using Avo-Rack and ETC Sensor, Colorsource Rack dimmers.
- Familiarity with using Moving Light Assistant for documentation purposes.
