Overview of Role
We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join the LX department for Disney’s The Greatest Showman on a fixed-term basis.
As an LX No.3 Assistant, you’ll report to the Head and Deputy Head of Lighting & Video and local crew. Your focus will be on supporting the setup, operation, maintenance, and smooth running of lighting and video equipment during rehearsals and performances.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Lighting to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances
- Assist the Head and Deputy of Lighting on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production
- Help train new team members, deputies, and local crew, and liaise with theatre staff at touring venues to maintain consistent standards.
- Carry out daily lighting setup and rig checks to ensure all equipment is show-ready.
- Stay informed of swing and understudy performances and adapt lighting requirements accordingly.
- Ensure all lighting equipment is cleaned, maintained, and in full working order for each performance.
- Learn and confidently operate all lighting department tracks as assigned.
- Operate the lighting desk for performances, replicating the show’s lighting design.
- Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required
- Support the maintenance and repair of the lighting system in accordance with artistic requirements, under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head of Lighting, Production Manager, and Creative Team.
- Respond calmly and effectively to technical issues that may arise during performances.
- Provide timely reporting and feedback regarding show-related or team matters.
- Work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and maintain a good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices.
- Liaise closely with Disney’s Health and Safety Manager to ensure that the Health and Safety Policy is followed.
Skills Required
- Background: Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production, working alongside an international cast, is highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of setting up, maintaining, and operating lighting systems.
- Working at Height: Comfortable with working at height as part of daily responsibilities.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills with cast, creative, and production teams are essential.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent initiative and practical problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure backstage situations.
- Calm Under Pressure: Able to handle issues that arise during performances with focus, professionalism, and composure.
- Integrity & Confidentiality: Full awareness of the need for integrity and confidentiality.
- Communication: Clear and confident communicator, with the ability to make informed decisions and collaborate effectively with cast, creative, and production teams.

Additional Information
- Contract Type: Fixed-Term 48 hours per week.
- Start Date: Late January 2026. (exact date TBC)
- Run Dates: March 2026 – May 2026
- Hours: 48 hours per week
- Schedule: Tuesday to Sunday (evening and weekend show schedule)
- Health & Safety: This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety Rules & Regulations at the production.
