Senior Events Manager

Summary

Events role in a world class venue!

More Details

The Royal Opera House aims to enrich people`s lives and continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. It seeks to be accessible and engaging, to develop audiences across the UK and to break new ground in the presentation of lyric theatre.

As a charity, we could not maintain our reputation, the range of our work, or our digital presence, without the support of our business partners, sponsors, philanthropists and members. The Development and Advocacy Department is seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Events Manager to strategically plan and deliver first class events and experiences across the department (and in collaboration with the Audiences and Commercial division) to stakeholders ranging from philanthropists to commercial venue hire. This role works within a fast-paced Events team and is critical to the successful delivery of the function and leadership of the team.

You will identify new business opportunities, developing innovative events packages, which will contribute to the Development and Advocacy targets. Working closely with a range of internal stakeholders and external partners, you will manage a portfolio of events to a high standard, sharing your knowledge and training opportunities with junior members of the team as well as your own direct reports.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with good people skills, who can develop and motivate others – leading by example. You will have high attention to detail, the ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure. You will also be a proactive team player, able to evidence or have transferable skills in the following:

  • An established track record in events promotion and events organising and delivery in a high-profile organisation
  • Strong project management, including planning and prioritisation, and documentation preparation skills
  • Highly proficient Microsoft Office user with good database and Excel skills and the ability to learn new procedures and systems for venue hire and events management
  • Commitment to delivering a first-rate service to clients, philanthropists and potential supporters
  • Excellent face-to-face communication and negotiation skills, including experience of dealing with senior level businesspeople and philanthropists
  • Strong team player able to work collaboratively across the organisation

We value the creativity and dynamism diversity of thought can bring to our organisation. Prior knowledge of our art forms or working within the sector is not a pre-requisite but the ability to develop an awareness of our programme and gain a good understanding of our venue and spaces quickly is essential.
