Senior Lighting Technician

Summary

The Yvonne Arnaud is looking for an experienced Senior Lighting Technician to provide a high standard of technical and production support to the theatre and its visiting companies, external hires and guests both at the venue and on tour.

  • Deputising to the Technical Manager as required, the ideal candidate will ensure a professional, competent and safe service is provided across all backstage areas, instilling a can-do attitude and problem solving across the team.
  • They will work alongside the Technical and Deputy Technical Managers leading the technical team on production work both practical and administrative.
  • In liaison with the Technical Manager, supervise, train and direct the work of the pool of casual staff with particular responsibility to the training and updating of resident junior technicians in the lighting technologies.
  • Working alongside the Deputy Technical Manager on the pre-production of the lighting for toured and in-house productions, guiding the lighting team on the fit ups and get outs.
  • Provide lighting services for events, stage presentations, orchestral concerts, and small scale black box productions.
  • Together with the Technical Manager & Deputy TM they will maintain electrical equipment and the electrical equipment installation of the building to a level not required by certification.
  • Oversee the stock and housekeeping maintenance of areas of technical equipment.
  • In liaison with the Technical Manager & Lighting Technician work to maintain,and PAT test all electrical equipment owned by the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.
  • As “Duty Technician” taking responsibility during performance for back of house safety and assisting with evacuation in the event of an emergency.
  • With the other resident technicians sharing the responsibility for Lighting management and maintenance, and film season management.
  • To work with the TM to ensure that all aspects of Health and Safety and all relevant working regulations are complied with throughout the building with particular attention to electrical equipment safety.
  • To support Yvonne Arnaud future own productions with technical support both in the Yvonne Arnaud venue and on tour.
