Senior Sound & Video Technician

Summary

The Senior Sound & Video Technician role is integral to the effective running of the department. Reporting to the Head of Sound & Video, the Senior Technician will provide technical services, install, operate and maintain staging & technical equipment for The Rep productions, visiting companies and conferences as required.

This role will work flexibly across disciplines to ensure that all technical, maintenance and operations are completed efficiently and effectively. This includes ensuring excellent customer service is consistently provided to staff, customers and visitors to The Rep & UVB (Unique Venues Birmingham) events while ensuring the efficient technical management and running of Rep events and productions. Digital technology and sustainability will be at the forefront of your thinking and at the heart of every project.

We are looking for someone who has substantial experience in a similar technical theatre role, with expertise in digital sound desks, QLab, and an understanding of theatrical equipment and systems. Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively under pressure. Candidates must be confident working at height, interpreting technical drawings, and implementing Health & Safety practices.

Terms & Conditions

Period of Work: This is a permanent contract, subject to successful completion of a probationary period of three months.

Pay:£28,697.32 per annum (Officer 3)

Hours: 39 hours per week, annualised as 2028 hours per annum. Evening and weekend work will be required.

Holidays: 25 days per year rising to 30 with service, plus bank holidays. The holiday year runs from 1 September to 31 August each year.

Location: Your main place of work will be The Rep in Birmingham.
