Kenny Wax Ltd is one of the leading Production Companies operating in the West End and on Tour. We are looking for an experienced Tech Swing to join our team in London for the West End transfer of this new musical.

Salary: £750 per week (£650 per week during rehearsals/tech)

Contract: Fixed Term SOLT/BECTU Contract

Contract Dates: w/c 13th April 2026 (TBC) – 18th July 2026

Rehearsals/Get In: w/c 13th April 2026

Tech: w/c 20th April 2026

Performances: 25th April – 18th July 2026

Show schedule: Performances are 6 days per week, typically Monday – Saturday. The performance schedule shall be confirmed at point of contract.

Holiday: As per the SOLT/BECTU Agreement (32 days per full calendar year). There will be a holiday embargo across this contract and any accrued holiday shall be paid out at the end of contract.

Personal attributes: We are looking for applicants with all round technical experience, including Sound, Video and LX. The role requires someone who has a calm and practical approach to technical troubleshooting and the ability to work flexibly in high pressure environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be a proactive member of the technical team and to work collaboratively with all other departments, including the theatre technical team, to ensure the smooth running of the Production;
  • To assist the technical and Stage Management teams with the running of the Production and rehearsals, covering Sound department, Video department, LX department and Stage Management tracks, maintenance, supporting the venue get-in and get-out where required and working with venue crew;
  • To work collaborative with all other departments, including the theatre technical team, to ensure the smooth running of the production and rehearsals;
  • To conduct any on-stage cues, as required;
  • To assist in the preparation of technical equipment, as required during the rehearsal process;
  • To assist with resets and pre-show checks as instructed;
  • To provide technical support for rehearsals, promotional/marketing events and other events as required and as directed;
  • To learn the Sound department plots as directed by the Head of Sound / Sound No. 2, and perform these as required including to cover absence and holiday;
  • To learn the Video department plots as directed by the Head of Video and perform these as required to including to cover absence and holiday;
  • To learn the Stage Management department plots as directed by the Stage Manager and perform these as required including to cover absence and holiday,
  • To learn other technical plots within the Production as required or as necessary to ensure that performances can go ahead;
  • To assist the Sound, Video, LX and Stage Management departments with maintenance as directed by the relevant Head of Department, ensuring that any fixes are completed to a high standard;
  • To teach any department deps or venue technical crew to provide cover as required;
  • To assist in the compilation of all necessary show paperwork in both hard and digital copy;
  • To have a practical understanding of the Producer’s employment policies and demonstrate a willingness to comply with these policies;
  • To work in accordance with the Producer’s Health & Safety policy, which may include any training deemed necessary;
  • Any other reasonable duties that would normally fall within the remit of a Tech Swing based on industry norms and practise or as reasonably requested by the Head of Sound, Head of Video, Stage Manager, Production Manager, Company Manager, Producers or General Managers.

Person Specification:

  • Demonstrable professional experience working in a similar role in the West End or on Tour;
  • Previous experience of working on a West End musical;
  • Extensive operational Sound experience, with particular focus on live mixing skills with a proven track record of dealing with complex radio mic shows;
  • Strong all-round technical knowledge;
  • Experience of working across different departments and learning multiple tracks;
  • Excellent technical skills and a thorough knowledge of technical troubleshooting;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with excellent attention to detail;
  • A proactive and flexible attitude;
  • Previous experience of working within a team;
  • The ability to work closely with actors and creative teams;
  • The ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise;
  • Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation;
  • Awareness of SOLT/BECTU agreements.
