Technician (Sound/LX Bias) 

You’ll report to the Technical Manager and have shared responsibility for a team of casual technicians.

The purpose of this role is to work with the Technical Manager and Deputies to ensure safe and efficient get ins/outs and performances, for all productions. (Venue Roles Only) Please note, your role may involve working with children or vulnerable people.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient Get Ins and Get Outs, adhering to policies and Health and Safety procedures to minimise risk of injury and accidents.
  • Ensure as far as is reasonably practicable, that the building is presented to the highest standards, and that the building is safe for use by its staff and costumers at all times.
  • With the Technical Management team and Stage Door Supervisor, ensure that the producers, touring companies, and production teams receive the highest standards of customer care and work closely with visiting companies to ensure their technical needs are met as economically as possible.
  • Assist in ensuring all equipment is maintained and annual testing is completed as part of planned preventative maintenance within budgetary constraints.
  • Take a lead in the set up and Operating Sound when required.
  • Ensure all ATGE’s HR policies and procedures are met and implemented.
  • Partake in regular departmental meetings to ensure the team is well informed and motivated and knowledgeable of up-to-date procedures and goals.
  • Initiate projects to aid the future proofing of the venue.
  • Be part of the Fire team and Emergency callout team.
  • At times, and as the business requires, work at other ATG venues.
  • Undertake any such duties and training as may be considered reasonable to the position of this role.

  • General certificate – English and Maths.
  • Relevant Experience
  • BS7909
  • IPAF
  • PPE/FPE inspection
  • Working at Height in the entertainment industry (& Rescue)
  • Safe use of a Tallescope
  • Safe rescue from a Tallescope Manual Handling
  • First Aid
  • PAT C&G
  • Safe use of mobile Towers (PASMA)
Experience 
  • Use of digital mixing consoles
  • Use of sound networking
  • Experience of Setting up and operating a small show.
  • Experience of setting up and operating LX desks.
  • Experience of working shows on stage
  • Experienced in leading teams
  • Experience of Loading and Unloading Articulated Lorries for a ‘Get In’ & ‘Get Out’
  • Use of Yamaha LS9
  • Use of Q-sys
  • AV & Networking Infrastructures
  • Experience of counterweight flying in a Receiving House
  • Overview of operational security systems (radio comms, CCTV)
  • Use of ETC APEX5
  • PAT
