Overview of Role

We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join the Wardrobe department for Disney’s The Greatest Showman on a fixed-term basis.

As a Wardrobe Assistant, you’ll report to the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe. Your focus will be on the preparation, maintenance, and continuity of costumes for the cast, ensuring a smooth and efficient backstage operation during rehearsals and performances.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe liaise between the Company Manager, Technical departments, Creative Team, Production and General Management Teams to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances.
  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production.
  • Manage daily setup, oversee wardrobe pre-sets, and maintain clear communication within the wardrobe team.
  • Ensure awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain and clean all costumes to keep them performance-ready for every show.
  • Assist with costume fittings when required to do so.
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
  • Responsible for repairing costumes as instructed and upholding the show’s quality in accordance with artistic standards, under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe, Production Manager, and Resident Creative Team.
  • Report and feedback show and staff-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Acquire familiarity with all plots/tracks within the Wardrobe department.
  • Work in full compliance with Disney’s Health and Safety Policy and maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Background: Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production, working alongside an international cast, is highly desirable.
  • Costume Construction: Extensive knowledge of costume construction, with strong sewing and garment alteration skills.
  • Costume Maintenance: Proficient in the care, maintenance, and laundering of stage costumes to ensure consistency and longevity.
  • Material Knowledge: Understanding of various costume materials and components, including silk, spandex, fabric painting, beading, and fastenings such as zippers.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive working relationships across departments.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent initiative and practical problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure backstage situations.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Able to handle issues that arise during performances with focus, professionalism, and composure.
  • Communication: Clear and confident communicator, with the ability to make informed decisions and collaborate effectively with cast, creative, and production teams.
  • Health & Safety Awareness: Solid working knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices within a backstage environment.

Additional Information

  • Contract Type: Fixed-Term 48 hours per week.
  • Start Date: Late January 2026. (exact date TBC)
  • Run Dates: March 2026 – May 2026
  • Hours: 48 hours per week
  • Schedule: Tuesday to Sunday (evening and weekend show schedule)
  • Health & Safety: This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety Rules & Regulations at the production.
