Second Stage: Supporting Employment Pathways in Theatre

Second Stage is a charity dedicated to helping people with convictions secure employment within theatre and live events. We have already placed eight people into various roles and are actively seeking further opportunities for our candidates. SOLT and UK Theatre members are invited to submit vacancies, particularly for entry-level and low-skilled positions backstage, front of house or off site; for example, crewing, stage hands, wardrobe and front of house, as well as warehouse and workshop jobs.

Although the majority of our candidates are released into London, interest is growing among regional prison employment boards, therefore we are seeking opportunities from across the country.

There is well documented evidence that meaningful employment plays a vital role in reducing the risk of reoffending, but also that giving someone a second chance, results in a loyal, productive and grateful workforce. By becoming a Second Stage employer, organisations can offer individuals a chance to transform their lives and reduce reoffending, whilst simultaneously enhancing their own social value.

Second Stage provides practical assistance and access to seminars or legal advice throughout the recruitment process, ensuring both employers and candidates are supported every step of the way.
