SOLT & UK Theatre respond to the EHRC’s draft updated Code of Practice

Commenting on the publication of the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s draft updated Code of Practice for services, public functions and associations, Society of London Theatre & UK Theatre Co-CEO Hannah Essex said:

“We are carefully reviewing the EHRC’s full guidance and hope that it provides the clarity needed following the UK Supreme Court ruling, including on practical implementation for theatre operators and producers.

“Our priority is to ensure members understand what the law requires, and how any response can be approached lawfully, sensitively, and practically.

“The theatre industry’s commitment to inclusion and dignity for all remains steadfast. Our members work hard to create welcoming environments for audiences, performers, and staff, and we will continue to engage constructively with Government, the EHRC, and sector partners to ensure theatres remain safe, respectful, and welcoming places for everyone.”
