UK Theatres Keep Ticket Prices Affordable in the Face of Rising Costs

Responding to The Stage’s latest UK ticketing survey, SOLT & UK Theatre Co-CEO Hannah Essex said:

“Across the UK, theatre remains vibrant and affordable, with attendance up by 4% since 2019. In UK Theatre venues, most tickets are sold for less than £36, a quarter for £24.50 or less, and 99.6% cost below £100.

“Regional theatres are the foundation of our industry and of local life – nurturing creative talent, supporting jobs, and driving economic growth. But theatres are operating under growing pressure, with real-terms cuts to cultural funding, rising costs including higher National Insurance, and urgent capital needs across ageing venues.

“Despite these challenges, theatres continue to keep prices affordable and audiences at the heart of what they do – ensuring that great live theatre remains open and welcoming to everyone, everywhere.”
