Venue Technician

Summary

As part of the technical team the post holder will be responsible for all technical and associated aspects of stage and events presentation, ensuring the Wycombe Swan standards of professionalism and presentation are maintained at all times.

ABOUT YOU

A Technical professional with experience in the theatre, music or live-entertainment space, you’ll be a self-motivated, engaging and dynamic leader.

Excellent verbal communication and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to lead and develop a team of casual workers.  The role includes lone and assisted manual handling tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist visiting performers and companies with the get in / get out of all technical services
  • Maintain stage, lighting, sound and other equipment as required, including fault diagnosis, repair and PAT testing and ensure that all technical and stage areas are kept clean, tidy and safe.
  • Completion of all in-house periodic tests, inspections, preventative maintenance and record findings. These will include (but are not restricted to) fire checks, water checks, PAT Testing, safety checks, first aid checks, auditorium seating checks
  • Assist the Buildings and Technical Department in ensuring the maintenance and safe operation of all stage, electrical and sound installations, plant and equipment, so as to achieve the Swan service targets.
  • Supporting the Building & Technical Manager in the development and implementation of new ways of working, so as to better achieve the Wycombe Swan and Trafalgar business and services objectives and targets.
  • Assist and drive the ongoing development of the technical department’s skills, expertise and knowledge by proactively keep abreast of news, trends and developments, ensuring the venue’s technical services and levels of health and safety stand out as exemplary.
  • Acting, when required, as Duty Stage Manager during performances ensuring the safety of performers, staff and patrons.
  • Be a designated key holder and undertake and ensure the safety and security of the building as required.
  • Assisting the Hospitality and Creative Learning teams with technical support for their events and functions as required.
  • Collaborate with all visiting producers and artists to promote good customer relation
  • Sustain positive cross-departmental working relationships, ensuring effective communication and support.
