Collaborating closely with the Chief Executive and reporting to the Board, the Artistic Director will be responsible for developing a distinctive artistic vision that encompasses all strands of the Sherman’s work, inspiring its many stakeholders. Leading the realisation of all the company’s productions and co-productions to the highest possible standards, they will direct an agreed number of productions each season, assembling and supporting creative teams. A passionate spokesperson for the Sherman, the Artistic Director will enhance its reputation externally, leveraging new support and opportunities whilst staying up to date with wider sector developments.
The successful candidate will bring a strong track record of developing and directing successful professional productions and co-productions at different scales for a broad range of audiences; commissioning and nurturing writers; and delivering ambitious artistic plans aligned to the organisational mission on time and within budget.
