This post is an 18-month contract which trains and develops an early-career voice coach in the specific skills and responsibilities required in a professional theatre environment. The successful applicant will shadow and assist the in-house voice team on all aspects of pre-production, rehearsal and post-press voice work across all three NT theatres, gradually taking on more coaching responsibilities through the course of the contract.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- MA/MFA in Voice (with emphasis on spoken voice, not singing)
- Sound knowledge of the physical elements of voice training and how to troubleshoot vocal issues
- A wide-ranging approach to the teaching and training of voice and text, and a corresponding ability to respond flexibly to the specific needs of individual actors
- Experience of working with a range of classical and modern texts
- Initiative and ability to work under pressure
