We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Bars & Cafe Strategic Project Manager with a proven track record in successfully delivering significant increases in bar income and improving customer experience.

Key improvements are essential to driving the organisation’s commercial revenue streams including a refit of the Assembly Hall Bar, improvements to the cinema concession stand and the installation of a Museum cafe. All of which will support WTM to achieve its charitable objectives and the long term financial sustainability of the charity. 

The postholder will be an excellent communicator and detailed planner, with the ability to work at pace on multiple projects without compromising quality or compliance. They will need to develop strong working relationships within the team as well as with all key stakeholders.

This post will be for an initial 8-12 month term with the potential to extend depending on the projected timelines for achieving the specific aims of the projects below: 

  • Strategic capital development of the bars and concessions across the portfolio of venues
  • Reviewing bars operational systems and processes, establishing and implementing best practice
  • Installation of a new cafe in the Museum

Fixed Term Contract 8–12 months (due to limited funding, with potential to become permanent), 15–22 hours per week.

Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Significant commercial experience and business acumen, with a track record of driving growth and increasing profitability in bars.
  • A proven strong track record in using data to drive decision making.
  • Entrepreneurially minded.
  • Experience in the redevelopment of bars and/or concessions and maximising sales.
  • Experience in procurement.
  • Experience of working with and negotiating leases and contracts. 
  • Financially astute with experience of effectively managing budgets and financial projections to ensure the best use of resources through prioritisation and planning. Excellent budget management skills with an understanding and appreciation of the business needs to achieve financial targets and charitable objectives.
  • Proven ability to negotiate confidently with suppliers and other commercial partners to deliver high returns.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Understanding of exceptional customer care.
  • Experience and understanding of relevant business licensing regulations and legislation.
