Who we are and what we do?

We are a team of 11 dedicated arts creatives who love working with all members of our communities. We create and deliver a year-round programme of practical workshops, projects and events engaging all ages, abilities and backgrounds across West Sussex. Within LEAP we have 2 key strands:

• Children and Young People (CYP)
• Community Outreach

We run over 50 weekly workshops across the whole of West Sussex, and facilitate a vast programme of bespoke projects on top of this. We believe that everyone, everywhere, should have great access to the arts and the benefits they bring. We provide a range of options for everyone to feel comfortable coming to the theatre, including CFT Buddies and Relaxed and Dementia Friendly Performances.

Who could you be?
You might be someone looking to retrain in a new industry, or a graduate from University or Drama School. You will have an interest in exploring how theatre and the arts can have a wider social benefit to a range of community groups and will have a desire to learn the skills needed to support the facilitation and administration of practical theatre workshops, projects and events. This post is aimed at self-motivated individuals who are eager to learn and develop the skills required for a career in arts engagement in a supportive environment.

What will you do?

The Community Outreach Traineeship offers a hands-on role, providing opportunities to gain practical arts engagement experience with an understanding of the importance of project management and administration skills. You will predominately support the Community strand of the LEAP programme. The work in this strand is focused on engaging underserved communities.
We currently offer programmes of work targeted at older adults aged 65+ at risk of isolation, adults with learning disabilities aged 25+, people living with dementia and adults within a mental health in-patient facility. Alongside these on-going projects, you will at times also be required to support the co-ordination of the CFT Buddies scheme, be involved in planning for our Relaxed and Dementia Friendly Performances, and support the running of bespoke events linked to the Festival programme.

There will also be times where you are asked to support events linked to other LEAP strands, including children and young people.

Over the course of the Traineeship you will gain professional experience in arts administration, practical workshop delivery, project management and leadership, and will receive on-going mentoring and coaching from the LEAP Team. There may also be opportunities for you to expand your knowledge of the wider arts industry through shadowing other departments at CFT.
