Kenny Wax Ltd is one of the leading Production Companies operating in the West End and on Tour. We are looking for an experienced Deputy Stage Manager to join our team in London for the premiere of this new Mischief play.

Deputy Stage Manager
Salary: £975 per week (£925 per week for rehearsals)
Contract: Fixed Term SOLT/Equity Contract
Contract Dates: 24th February – 2nd August 2025 (plus possible extension)
Rehearsals (London): 24th February – 30th March 2025
Tech: 31st March – 13th April 2025
Performances: 14th April – 2nd August 2025
Possible Extension: 3rd August – 7th September 2025
Show schedule: Performances are 6 days per week, typically Tuesday – Sunday. The performance schedule during previews varies and shall be confirmed at point of contract.
Holiday: As per the SOLT/Equity Agreement (28 days per full calendar year)
Performance Location: Noel Coward Theatre, St Martin’s Lane, London WC2N 4AU

Personal attributes: We are looking for applicants with previous Deputy Stage Management experience. The role requires someone who has exceptional people skills and can work in a highly pressured environment. Knowledge and experience of the working practices of a new West End production is highly desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To call each performance;
- To create and maintain an up-to-date prompt copy, to include blocking, any script changes, all technical cues and any other relevant information (such as contingencies);
- To work closely with the Company Manager, Technical Stage Manager, Director and Associate Director to schedule and co-ordinate rehearsals and ensure the rehearsal room or stage is set-up appropriately prior to their commencement;
- To provide administrative support for the Production;
- To deputise for the Technical Stage Manager and Company Manager where necessary;
- To teach the book to the Book Cover(s);
- To assist the Company Manager and Technical Stage Manager in compiling show paperwork including but not limited to rehearsal calls, rehearsal/show reports, cue sheets and other paperwork relative to the prompt copy;
- Work collaboratively with all other departments, including the theatre technical team, to ensure the smooth running of the Production;
- Learn all plots/tracks within your department in order to provide absence cover for other members of your department where necessary;
- Training and supervising Deps as required;
- To compile and keep up-to-date all necessary show paperwork both hard copy and digital;
- Working in accordance with the Producer’s Health and Safety policy, which may include any training deemed necessary, to keep up to date logs and lists of equipment for both show and backstage electrical owned and hired equipment, to include overseeing yearly PAT testing;
- Identifying hazards and contributing to risk assessments for the Production;
- Have good working knowledge of all risk assessments and method statements for the Production and making sure all stage management, show staff and cast understand and comply with all relevant risk assessments and method statements;
- Having a practical understanding of the Producer’s employment policies and demonstrating a willingness to comply with these policies;
- Any other reasonable duty that would normally fall within the remit of a Deputy Stage Manager based on industry norms and practice.
Person Specification:
- Demonstrable professional experience working in a similar role in the West End or on Tour;
- Knowledge and experience of the working practices of a West End production;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with excellent attention to detail;
- Proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to work with commitment and dedication to find solutions as required;
- Experience of working with creative teams and the ability to manage expectations;
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise;
- Discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information;
- Experience of working on a new production;
- A calm and proactive approach to technical troubleshooting.
- A strong understanding of comic timing;
- Awareness of current health & safety legislation;
- Awareness of current SOLT/Equity Agreements.
