Fundraising
More Details
- identify and maximise any funding opportunities across the range of Northern Stage’s activity.
- Lead on the delivery of agreed fundraising strategy and programmes to meet annual financial targets across individuals, corporates, and trusts and foundations.
- Effectively steward and develop ongoing relationships with funders, corporate supporters, donors and other funding partners to maximise retention rates, including ensuring engaging external communications and reporting on impact.
- Identify and cultivate potential funders, corporate supporters, donors and other funding partners through research, networking and cultivation activities.
- Lead on developing compelling high-quality proposals for funding, collating input from colleagues as required.
- Support the growth of individual giving through the development of our supporter scheme and a range of individual giving campaigns and events.
- Lead the Development Administrator and other colleagues in the compilation and submission of reports to grant funders and foundations.
- Work with Senior Management on applications to statutory, civic, HE and other public funders when required.
Management
- Management and supervision of Development Administrator, monitoring performance and creating opportunities for growth
- Identify and nurture staff development and training, monitor and address staff wellbeing, and encourage and engage staff with the Company’s values and culture.
- Report regularly to the Senior Management Team on fundraising progress
- Ensure the Development team complies with regulatory and legislative requirements, in particular the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice, UK GDPR and the data protection act 2018.
General
- Actively engage with Northern Stage’s vision and policies regarding Equality, Diversity & Inclusion; artistic ambition; participation; environmental sustainability; health and safety; and evaluation & monitoring.
- Engage with training and development activity across the organisation and support our training programmes.
- Work as an ambassador of the theatre at press nights, development events and other significant public events.
- Act always in the best interests of Northern Stage.

Candidates should have demonstrable experience in:
- Annual raised income generation and a proven track record of success of successful applications to trusts and foundations
- Creating and delivering innovative income generation campaigns and strategies that meet agreed targets.
- Stewarding individual giving.
- Successfully cultivating, nurturing, and managing partner relationships across corporates, individuals, trusts, and foundations.
- Developing and delivering cultivation and raised income events.
- Managing income and expenditure budgets.
Candidates should also possess the following knowledge and skills:
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Advanced skills in both written and oral communication and presentation.
- The ability to inspire, motivate and persuade, especially proactively developing successful relationships built on collaboration and trust.
- Good computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong working knowledge of fundraised income best practice.
- A passion for the aims and work of Northern Stage and cultural sector more broadly
