Development Manager

Summary

The Development Manager supports the delivery of Worthing Theatres & Museum’s (WTM) fundraising strategy across a broad range of income streams, including trusts and foundations, public funding, individual giving and corporate sponsorship.

The postholder will help identify, research and pursue new funding opportunities, cultivate and steward donor relationships, and craft compelling narratives which communicate the impact of our work. These materials will be used across funding applications, donor communications, individual giving campaigns and evaluation reports.

This is a hands-on role focused on meeting income targets and delivering excellent stakeholder care. Working closely with, and reporting to the Head of Development, the Development Manager plays a key role in securing funding that ensures WTM’s long-term financial sustainability, that supports our creative and community-focused work, and that enhances our capital assets.

Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven experience in fundraising, with a successful track record of securing income from trusts, foundations, and/or statutory bodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to write persuasive pitches, proposals, reports and donor communications.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to engage funders, donors and stakeholders effectively.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in meeting funding and reporting requirements.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and/or Google equivalents and comfortable working with CRM or donor databases.
  • Understanding of fundraising regulations and compliance best practices.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in individual giving, membership schemes and/or major donor fundraising.
  • Familiarity with Spektrix or similar CRM platforms (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).

£23,018 to £26,591 per annum pro rata – depending on experience (£28,389 to 32,796 per annum FTE)
