Disney’s Hercules – Wigs, Hair & Makeup Assistant Show Person

This upcoming role is an opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Wigs, Hair and Make Up department on Disney’s Hercules on a fixed-term basis as a show person. Working with the Head and Deputy, and other assistants, this staff member will help with the day to day of running a large scale musical to maintain the excellence of the show.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head Of Wigs, Hair and Make Up liaise between the Company Manager, Technical departments, Resident Creative Team, Production and General Management Teams to ensure the smooth running of all performances.
  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head Of Wigs, Hair on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production.
  • Perform daily setup, pre-sets and provide clear communication within the Wigs team.
  • Ensure awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure all Wigs are maintained and cleaned so they are in working order for each performance.
  • Assist with wig fittings when required to do so.
  • Responsible for repairing Wigs as instructed, maintaining the show’s quality as dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head Of Wigs, Hair and Make Up, Production Manager and Resident Creative Team.
  • Report and feedback show and staff-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Acquire familiarity with all plots/tracks within the Wigs department.
  • Work in accordance with the Health And Safety Policy and maintain an excellent working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices, liaising closely with Disney’s Health and Safety Manager to ensure that the Health And Safety Policy is followed.
Skills Required
  • Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production working with an international cast is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of wig construction, the cleaning and maintenance of stage wigs.
  • Have an understanding of different materials and components of stage wigs.
  • Confident working with Afro/textured hair and wigs.
  • Clear, confident communication and decision making essential.
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with the cast, creative and production teams essential.
  • Transparent and open approach, being able to work well under pressure.
  • A full awareness of the need for integrity and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation.
  • Barbering/hairdressing all hair types, desirable.
  • Understanding of Makeup application, techniques and product knowledge.
  • Knowledge of wig repairs and maintenance.

Additional Information
  • Fixed Term Contract – July 2025 start, year contract.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • This role will only be responsible and required for show calls.
  • Weekend and evening work integral (Monday to Saturday show schedule).
  • This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety rules & regulations at the production.
