Job Description
The Head of Stage is line manager for the Stage Crew and for casual Stage Workers, work experience and volunteers in the Stage department. Responsible to the Production Manager.
Contract start date: 16 June 2025
Contract finish date: 12 September
The fee for services is £650.00 per week. All other T&C’s as per the YTR / BECTU house agreement.
Main Duties
Leading the Stage Team
To be responsible for the leadership of the fit-up and the get-out, and ensure that they are completed safely, and effectively.
To ensure the efficient running of all stage department cues during the production.
To ensure the productions are presented to the highest possible standard.
To line manage all staff in the Stage department.
To collect and process all stage department time sheets and ensure the hours worked by Stage department staff stay within targets set by the Production Manager.
To be responsible for Health and Safety within the Stage department which includes the following:
- To ensure all work carried out conforms with the latest H&S legislation, YTR’s H&S policy and industry-standard best practices.
- To ensure that all stage department equipment is well maintained and meets all statutory requirements (this includes ensuring all testing is completed at the required intervals, including by not limited to ensuring all rigging equipment meets LOLER requirements).
To be responsible for all housekeeping in areas specific to the department.
Person Specification
Essential
At least 2 years’ experience as a Head of Stage / Senior Stage Technician
Excellent knowledge of show running in a technical capacity
Excellent organisational and communication skills
An excellent team player
A positive and motivated individual
Enthusiastic, committed and passionate about the Arts
The ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise work
Ability to work evenings/weekends
Desirable
A full clean driving licence
