Resident Director

Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for a full-time experienced, Resident Director to work on the London production of STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW.

Written by Kate Trefry, an original story by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne and Kate Trefry, directed by Stephen Daldry, co-directed by Justin Martin for the Phoenix Theatre and produced by Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions – running in the West End since November 2023.

Your duties and responsibilities will be those normally expected of a Resident Director on a first-class West End production.

The Resident Director will work with the Directors and Associate Director in delivering the creative vision of the production, as well as providing research and administrative support. They will support the Associate Director in leading understudy rehearsals and cover runs. They will provide a strong support to the directing team, liaising between many different departments, so it is important they have good communication skills.

The Resident Director will be present throughout the entire rehearsals process from the start of rehearsals to the opening night. They will then continue with the production to regularly note the show each week, run understudy rehearsals with the Associate Director and be present at key moments during the running of the production (for example, recasts).
