About UK Theatre

UK Theatre is the UK’s leading theatre and performing arts membership organisation.

We promote excellence, professional development, and campaign to improve resilience and increase audiences across the sector.

UK Theatre supports organisations and individuals in the performing arts at any stage of their career, through a range of training, events and other professional services.

Whether it's through sharing knowledge, bringing you together with the right people or providing practical advice, UK Theatre supports you and your work.

We provide professional training courses in the performing arts in the UK, ranging from one-day sessions to week-long residencies.

Our national conferences include the Touring Symposium, AGM and Members Lunch and UK Theatre Awards, as well as specialist conferences covering Front of House, Press and PR, Finance and Business Management and Box Office. All Members receive substantial discounts.

We provide fantastic networking opportunities for performing arts professionals across the UK, and run a mentoring scheme that promotes the sharing of experience and industry knowledge between Members at all stages of their careers.

Organisation Members can get one-to-one legal advice from our in-house lawyers. Our Employment Relations team supports members to resolve disputes and negotiate contracts with industry unions. Our essential legal and employment relations updates are also available.

UK Theatre believes that theatre and the performing arts matter; to the public, to society, to education, to the economy. We make this case to local and national Government to make sure that the sector’s voice is heard, and to make sure that theatre and the performing arts continues to play a vital role.

We respond to the external environment, advocate and campaign on issues affecting the theatre industry in the UK. We keep members involved and provide responses to recent consultations and briefings on key issues.

These include, but are not limited to: diversity, funding and income generation, theatre and performing arts workforce, cultural education, access and changes to working practices. More detailed information on our goals can be found in our Business Plan

We support other campaigns such as PIPAFamily Arts Campaign, the NCA and The Hearts For The Arts Awards and What Next?

Members looking for our full list of consultation responses, advocacy work and monthly advocacy briefings, can find them here.

If you have any queries about any of our current campaigns or briefings, do get in touch on 020 7557 6700 or email Hannah our Advocacy Manager.

The annual UK Theatre Awards celebrate the professional excellence and achievements of performing arts all over the UK.
